Spring into Style: Easy Tips for a Beautiful Table Setting

In this post – I’m sharing how to create a beautiful springtime tablescape.

Spring has sprung! Flowers and trees are blooming, birds are chirping and the days are finally getting longer. It’s time for a fresh take on everything, including table settings. For this month’s Styled 2 Ways, MaryJo of Master”pieces” of my Life and I are sharing ways that you can create a pretty spring tablescape for friends and family.

Styled 2 Ways #8 – Spring Tablescapes

Each month, MaryJo and I collaborate to share fresh takes on a common theme. This month’s theme is Spring Tablescapes.

Spring Inspiration

For this tablescape, I wanted to create a spring woodland scene. I was inspired to use natural elements like moss, flowers and little potted mushrooms. I found plenty of beautiful tablescapes to inspire me on Pinterest.

Supplies Used

As with all of my creative projects, I like to gather a pile of things together that I think I might use and then go from there. For this project, I purchased some pretty spring floral arrangements, a moss table runner, a bag of moss, faux eggs, velvet mushrooms, pink taper candles, and some cute little terracotta pots. I also included some things I already own, including candlesticks, placemats, dishes, flatware, napkin rings and my Fitz and Floyd Classics Easter pieces that I have collected over the years.

Assemble the Mini Mushroom Pots

I knew my search was over when I spotted these adorable blue velvet mushrooms at Michaels. They are the perfect touch for a mossy woodland vibe.

I also found these adorable mini terracotta pots to “plant” them in.

To start, I trimmed the wire on each one to about 4 inches. This was just long enough to reach the bottom of the pot. Next, I poked the wire through one of the faux eggs and placed it in the pot. (If you have any modeling clay, you could also use it to stabilize the mushroom. I didn’t have any so I improvised.) Lastly, I tucked some moss around the egg to fill in the pot and keep the mushroom upright.

I made six pots, one for each table setting. I love how they turned out! Since I didn’t use any glue, I’ll be able to reuse this idea for other holidays as well.

Start with a Runner

I began the tablescape with the moss runner. I left the table bare because I like the contrast of the moss against the black table.

Next, I added some woven hyacinth placemats to add more texture and a natural look. I have two sets of these placemats and they are super versatile.

Set the Table

I used our everyday dishes for this table because they have a casual feel. They are the Cambria Collection from Pottery Barn.

Build the Tablescape

For the centerpiece, I started by draping the tulip and egg garland diagonally across the table. I then added the two tulip and egg floral arrangements on either end of the table.

I placed one of the mushroom pots at each place setting. These would make cute place card holders!

To create the centerpiece focal point of the tablescape, I filled my Fitz and Floyd basket serving plate with faux eggs and placed it in a marble footed bowl for added height. I scattered the remaining eggs along the length of the moss runner.

To finish the tablescape, I added pink taper candles in mismatched silver and crystal candlesticks.

Add the Flatware, Napkins and Glassware

Finally, I added the flatware to each table setting. I used silver to coordinate with the silver candlesticks. I used some natural linen napkins in ceramic bunny napkin rings and stemware as the final touch.
