Why a Rustic Apple Galette Feels More Like Fall Than Pumpkin Ever Could

Garden Feast prefers the unpretentious rustic beauty of an apple galette, still warm from the oven, any day.

That’s the magic of a galette. It’s not trying too hard. It’s pie’s relaxed cousin. Think the one who shows up to dinner in a flannel shirt and still somehow looks effortlessly perfect. The crust is folded freehand, golden and rustic with those beautiful, imperfect edges. The apple slices fan out, glazed with a little sugar and cinnamon (or in my case, with apricot jam), caramelizing just enough in the oven to scent your whole house.

Homemade Apple Dumplings

Apple dumplings evoke all the warm feelings of fall. Whenever I make these, it never ceases to amaze me how many memories come flooding in.

Homemade Apple Dumplings are made by peeling and coring apples, then filling them with a cinnamon sugar mixture. They are wrapped in a buttery, flaky pie crust and spooned with a warm syrup mixture of butter, sugar, and water.  They are perfectly cooked, and you are in heaven!

Golden, flaky layers wrap around a sweet fruit filling, it’s perfect for a weekend family treat or holiday celebration. This recipe is sure to become a favorite.

Seems odd for me not to yet again not share a fun fallscape table, but I really wanted to stick to the Apple Theme this week for the Canadian Thanksgiving. Next week let Halloween tricks and treats commence. Hit me up with a new link.

Plus I promise next week is Halloween and tables and crafts and DIY’s all around. Just really needed a fun theme this weekend.
