Happiness is Homemade #596

Welcome to the Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #596!!!

My name is Katie from Love My Messy Messy Mess.  I love sharing things that I love in life including my fails and victories at parenting, gardening, fashion, education and music.  I’m most active on Facebook and Instagram so check me out there for all of my antics!

July was a hot and humid one here in Western New York where I reside with my three kids, dog and cat in our 1800’s farmhouse.  We welcome August and the lovely dip in temperature so far.  What’s the temperature been like where you are?

This Week’s Features

In my ripe old age of 44 I have come to realize the importance of GETTING RID OF STUFF I DO NOT NEED!  Some days I’m highly motivated, other’s not so much.  I love this August Declutter from Filling the Jars to give me little but high impact tasks to help get the job done.

I love making a chilled or frozen dessert for special occasions during the summer months, and with the abudance of blueberries I saw this recipe for From Scratch Lemon Blueberry Icebox Cake from My Homemade Roots and thought it was perfect to feature!

You know how I love my wreaths, and since anything nautical themed is all the rage this summer, check out this easy tutorial for a Simple DIY Rope Wreath from an Organized Season.  Very coastal chic!

Here’s a fun take on a childhood classic – Sidewalk Chalk Paint Recipe from Fun-A-Day.  Instead of just using the pieces of chalk to draw, you can create a paint version.  Kids LOVE using paintbrushes, and this can allow your child to add more detail to their sidewalk art!

BONUS FEATURE

This recipe for Raspberry Merengue Chill from A Labour of Life looks sooooooo delicious and refreshing.  This is an August must have for your deck or patio enjoyment!
