Before we jump in, I want to welcome you to another great collaboration with the very talented and thrift store loving MaryJo of Master”pieces” of my Life. And if you’re stopping by from her blog welcome! Today we’re sharing fun ideas for Valentine’s Day decorations.

Supplies Needed:

3 Styrofoam hearts

2 bags faux rose petals (pink/red)

heart necklace

1 garden stake (optional)

hot glue gun

scissors

Time to fire up the glue gun! Make sure you have a good supply of sticks. I used at least a dozen small sticks for this project!

Step 1: Cover the Hearts With Rose Petals

Starting at the bottom of the Styrofoam heart, glue the faux rose petals on, layering as you go up. I made sure that all of the petals face the same way for a uniform look. Cover one side first, then start at the bottom again on the other side. Once both sides are covered, carefully cover the edges, starting at the tip of the heart and overlapping as before. Repeat for the other two hearts.

Step 2: String Together Using Necklaces

Since the Styrofoam hearts are so lightweight, it’s easy to string them together using glue. First, decide how long you want the top hanging loop to be. Then cut a length of the heart necklace, and carefully glue both ends to the top of one of the red hearts to make a loop. Next, cut another short length of necklace and attach one end to the top of the pink heart with glue.

When the glue has solidified, attach the other end of the piece of the heart necklace to the bottom tip of the first red heart. Allow to cool. Then cut another section of necklace to match the last one. Glue one end of the necklace to the bottom of the pink heart. Allow to cool. Lastly, attach the other end of the piece of necklace to the top of the remaining red heart. Allow to cool.

Step 3: Hang and Enjoy!

Display your hearts from a garden stake in a planter, or hang from a hook. Just be sure they are hanging in a protected area. They will turn in the breeze and add a “lovely” touch to your porch or deck. Of course, they will also look pretty anywhere inside your home too!
