Welcome to B2B Weekend Vibes – a weekly roundup of current goings-on From the Bay to the Beach. Here you’ll find a few of my favorite things, a bit of home decor inspiration, and a peek into my week. Yay – it’s Friday!
In this post – exploring the NYC area, white denim jackets for fall, and wallpaper for our “cloffice” space.
NYC
Last weekend we spent a couple of fun days on the East Coast visiting our daughter and did some quick exploring outside of Manhattan. If you’ve been reading along for a while, you know I like fine dining and fun. We had both.
Friday
On Friday, we took the train from Crestwood into midtown Manhattan for dinner and show. The convenience of public transportation in the New York metro area never ceases to amaze me. Here in California, we’re pretty much stranded without our cars.

Our daughter has become quite the savvy subway and train rider, so we knew we wouldn’t get lost. It’s always hard to resist snapping a picture of the ceiling at Grand Central Station. I think it’s beautiful.

We had a delicious Italian dinner at Becco, one of our favorite restaurants in the the theater district. As promised last week, I had the Pollo al Limon, which was delicious as always. No photo taken as it was devoured immediately.

My daughter ordered the lobster and was presented with an enormous whole lobster piled high with squid ink pasta, calamari and shellfish, smothered in a red sauce. It was quite the dish. We were all a bit surprised. She was a trooper though. She put on her bib and dug in. We helped her finish it.
After dinner we strolled a couple of blocks over to the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre to see The Outsiders. It was a great show. The choreography was amazing. I’m always so impressed with how athletic dancers are. The coolest part of the show was a fight scene with actual rain falling on the stage! Now I need to rewatch the movie!

My husband loves the Irish bars in NYC, so we stopped in a Mulligan’s Pub on Madison Avenue for some after show beers. There may also have been some late night wings consumed as well. (Best chicken wings I’ve ever had!) The train ride back to Crestwood from Grand Central was quick and easy. Fun night!

Saturday
On Saturday, we spent the day with our daughter. She showed us around the area where she lives and works. We are always struck by how lush and green some parts of the country are. California is huge, so we have a lot of different climates, but with the exception of the redwood forests in Northern California, none compare to the forests of trees back east.

Sleepy Hollow
On our way to dinner that night, we made a detour to Sleepy Hollow, famous for being the home of the legendary Headless Horseman. We were limited on time, or else I would have many more pictures of this quaint little town to share. However, we did find time to walk on the Westchester Riverwalk and take in the spectacular views of the Hudson River.

We were able to see past the Tappan Zee bridge (aka the Mario Cuomo bridge) all the way downriver to Manhattan, which was incredible.

I wish we could visit Sleepy Hollow in October! According to the village website, they have “haunted hayrides, Gothic mansions, blazing pumpkins, farmers markets, live music, street fairs, a famous Halloween 10K run (costumes welcome!), a Halloween parade, and of course, the Headless Horseman!”

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in the area next month be sure to check it out! You can find a complete calendar of events here.

Goosefeather
Dinner that night was incredible. Our daughter managed to snag a reservation at Goosefeather in Tarrytown. The restaurant is located in an historic King Mansion at the Tarrytown House Estate. This gorgeous resort hotel would be the perfect place to stay if you’re planning on visiting Sleepy Hollow in October. I would imagine you’d need to reserve a room pretty far in advance.

The restaurant’s head chef is Dale Talde of Top Chef fame. The food is Cantonese and it was delicious! I sadly didn’t take photos of our food, but I snapped a pic of the menu and the mansion. It was a very memorable dinner and I hope we can go back next time we visit.

White Denim Jackets for Fall
White denim jackets are the perfect layering piece for fall. It’s a versatile neutral and it has a bit more of a dressy vibe than blue denim. I recently mentioned in this post how much I like my new white oversized Weston denim jacket from Anthropologie. Its generous size will allow me to layer it over sweaters when the weather turns cooler.

I prefer my denim jackets to have a little stretch to them. I have broad shoulders and I don’t like my jackets feeling tight across the back when I lift my arms. This classic stretch denim jacket is by Franne Golde at Nordstrom. The only issue I see is that the sleeves don’t have button cuffs, so if you like to roll up your jacket sleeves like I do, this one might not fit the bill. The ivory color is nice instead of a brighter white because it doesn’t scream summer.

Another great option is this jacket by MANGO, also at Norstrom. It also has a bit of stretch. Notice how it is styled with white jeans and a longer collared top underneath to break up all the white – a perfect early fall outfit.

For budget-friendly options, Amazon carries lots of name brand white denim jackets at great prices.

Designing Our “Cloffice”
I’m finally making progress on finishing up our little under-the-stairs-Harry-Potter-office-space in our hall closet. You may be wondering why we would need a tiny cloffice when we have the larger desk in the other room, but I wanted a spot for all of the necessary but not great to look at stuff, like our printer. It also gives us a spot to pay bills, make a private phone call, or hide all of the random papers that seem to find their way into the house.

It’s a good thing my husband is still on a work trip because we’ve got a bit of a mess going on in our hallway. I had to empty out the closet to hang up the wallpaper. I’m hoping to get it all put back together before he gets back! (However, we share a photo stream and I take tons of pictures of stuff I’m working on for the blog, so he usually knows what he’s walking into.)

Peel and Stick Wallpaper
My plan is to wallpaper the back wall with this fun speckled dot peel-and-stick wallpaper from Target. It was relatively inexpensive and matches the small white desk we already own. I was originally going to go with some kind of coastal looking paper, but I love metallic gold and this is a spot in our home that no one will see but us, so I went with it!

I’m only doing one wall, at least for now. It’s been a while since I’ve hung wallpaper, so I want to go slow. If I end up liking it, I might do more. The good thing about peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it’s low commitment. I bought three rolls, so we’ll see how much I have left over.

Wish me luck! I’ll be sharing the completed cloffice soon! I hope you have a terrific weekend!
