Welcome to B2B Weekend Vibes – a weekly roundup of current goings-on From the Bay to the Beach. Here you’ll find a few of my favorite things, a bit of home decor inspiration, and a peek into my week. Yay – it’s Friday!
In this post – The World of Hans Zimmer, inspiring fall decor, a trip to Julian, CA, and my new favorite brand of perfume.
The World of Hans Zimmer
We went to see The World of Hans Zimmer this week and it did not disappoint!

I realize as I’m writing this that many of you are probably thinking, “Who the heck is Hans Zimmer?” Bear with me.
Hans Zimmer Facts
In my opinion, Hans Zimmer is one of the greatest movie composers of our time. Here is a very short list of just a few of the movies he has composed scores for: A League of Their Own, Gladiator, Rain Man, Thelma & Louise, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Driving Miss Daisy, Days of Thunder, The Rock, As Good As It Gets and many more. For a complete list of his movies, head to the IMDb website.
According to Wikipedia, German composer and music producer Hans Zimmer has composed and produced over one hundred soundtracks and film scores. Of them, about 50 soundtracks and songs have been nominated for awards. He has won two Academy Awards, four Satellite Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, five Grammy Awards, three Saturn Awards, two Annie Awards, and two WAFCA Awards.
My love for his music goes way back to my college years, when I first discovered the soundtrack for the film Green Card, starring Andie McDowell and Gérard Depardieu. I must have listened to that CD (I’m dating myself here) dozens of times. It was my favorite music to study to. If you’re curious, here’s a sampling of the music. I still love this soundtrack.

The World of Hans Zimmer Concert
The World of Hans Zimmer is a concert series that began back in 2018. It’s a live musical performance of some of his greatest compositions, set to a background of scenes from the movies they were featured in. It’s a fantastic show. This video of their performance of music from the movie Gladiator in 2024 gives you a good idea of what we saw. If you have a chance to go see this concert in person I highly recommend it. It was unlike any concert I’ve been to before.
Inspiring Fall Decor
Now that we’re in full fall mode, nothing makes me happier than fall decor. There are so many great ideas out there!
Branches as Decor
To start with, I love the look of natural branches displayed indoors or on a porch. They work well with Halloween decorations and then transition beautifully to November and Thanksgiving. You can use natural branches from your yard or invest in some realistic faux ones that will last for many seasons..

Pillows
The first thing I like to do when decorating for fall is to swap out the couch pillows for ones that have texture. Pillows covered in fur, suede, fleece and velvet make the whole room feel cozier.

Candles
Adding candles around the house is another way I like to add warmth to our home in autumn. I tend to choose scents that are more woodsy and spicy than sweet. I also prefer soy candles because they burn cleaner.

One of my favorite cozy candle brands is WoodWick. Like the name implies, their candles have wooden wicks that crackle like a real fire. The Fireside Candle is one of my favorites.

A Trip to Julian, CA
If you like pie and you live in Southern California, you’ve probably heard of Julian Pies. If not, allow me to introduce you to them, because they are delicious.

I must admit, when we first moved to San Diego I was skeptical about the quality of the pies in this part of the state. I’m not sure why. I think I associate good pies with good apples, which I thought couldn’t grow around here. I thought wrong. Turns out, there’s an area near the town of Julian up in the mountains east of San Diego that grows delicious apples. Which of course, make great apple pies.
Road Trip
On Saturday, we decided it was time to take a road trip up to Julian to see the town and surrounding area, and of course get some pie. It’s a quick drive from the coast up to the town of Julian, about an hour and a half.

Oh my gosh, was it crowded. Turns out, hoards of people descend on this tiny mining town in October to go apple picking and eat pie. We almost turned around and left thinking there wouldn’t be any place to park. Fortunately, we happened upon a dirt lot that allowed parking for $10. Sold.

We learned that Julian was settled in the late 1860’s by several families. It was eventually named after a man named Mike Julian, who was a former Confederate soldier, interestingly enough. The town grew once gold was discovered in the area. Today, Julian has lots of cute shops and restaurants, along with breweries and wineries. It was a fun afternoon of wandering.

The line to get pie at the Julian Pie Company Shop in town was ridiculously long, so we decided to skip it. On the way home we stopped off at another of their shops just outside of town and finally got some pie, plus a frozen one to bake at home. Mission accomplished!

Newest Fragrance Obsession – Replica
I don’t use the word “obsessed” much because it’s so overused, but I thought it was appropriate in this case. Have you heard of Replica perfumes by Maison Margiela Paris? I kept seeing them at Nordstrom and online and I thought, based on the name, that they were copycats of other perfumes. Nope! Their brand is called Replica because their perfumes are “reproductions of familiar scents and moments of varying locations and periods.”
I found this sampler set at Sephora. (Order it quick because it’s on sale!) So far, I’m loving nearly all of the scents. I’ve noticed that their fragrances seem to last much longer than perfumes I’ve used in the past, like Jo Malone. With names like “Beach Walk” and “Bubble Bath” how could one go wrong?

How perfect is a scent called “By the Fireplace” for fall? I’ll keep on testing and sniffing and I’ll report back on which ones end up being my favorites. Once I figure that out, there will be no stopping me. Plus, I just found out they make candles! It’s never too early to do a little Christmas shopping. Have a great weekend!
