In this post I’m shopping for the most beautiful basket wall displays, plus I’m sharing some great tips on how to hang them.
Now that we’ve returned to our Bay Area home for the summer, I’ve had some time to hunt down some artwork to fill all of the bare walls. The biggest challenge was deciding what to put on the big wall in our main living space above our couch. It was calling out for a huge piece of art or a whole gallery wall. While I love a good gallery wall and even toyed with the idea of one, I couldn’t quite nail down the look I wanted. That’s when I started thinking about a basket wall. After some research – aka online shopping – I found a beautiful set on Amazon that fit perfectly with our room’s slightly boho vibe. It was super affordable and a breeze to put up! Today, I’m sharing a list of sources to help you find the perfect set of baskets for your space.

Tips for Choosing Baskets:
- Mix and Match: Combine different sizes, shapes, and textures for a dynamic look. Alternatively, you can purchase baskets in a set. Larger walls will need more baskets.
- Color Scheme: Choose baskets that complement your room’s color palette.
- Material: Consider the material of the baskets (e.g., wicker, rattan, seagrass) for added texture and durability. (Read the descriptions carefully! Some of the materials may actually be plastic.)
- Pattern: Look for baskets with interesting patterns or weaving techniques to add visual interest.

Amazon has a vast selection of baskets in different styles, sizes, and price ranges. It’s a convenient option to find exactly what you’re looking for, often with customer reviews to guide your purchase. I’ve linked the one I ordered below because the quality is fantastic! They are made from all-natural materials and the colors and textures look very high-end, despite being under $100 for the set. I have included other options below as well.

Materials You’ll Need:
- A variety of baskets (different sizes, shapes, and textures)
- Measuring tape
- Pencil
- Painter’s tape or masking tape
- Picture hanging hooks or nails
- Hammer
- Command strips (optional, for a no-nail option – the method I used for the flat baskets)
- Command hooks (also optional – I used them for most of the curved baskets
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Gather Your Baskets Start by collecting baskets of various sizes, shapes, and textures. Thrift stores, flea markets, and home decor stores are great places to find unique pieces. Aim for a mix that complements your room’s color scheme and overall style.
- Plan Your Layout Before you start hammering nails into the wall, lay out your baskets on the floor. This allows you to experiment with different arrangements until you find a design you love. Try to balance the sizes and shapes for a cohesive look. Take a photo of the layout once you’re satisfied—it will serve as a reference when hanging. Pro-tip – don’t leave too much empty space between baskets. You want them to be visually connected and cohesive. I opted to overlap mine a bit.
- Mark the Wall Using a measuring tape and pencil, mark the center point of where you want your basket wall to be. From there, use painter’s tape to outline the general area you’ll be working with. This helps to visualize the space and keep your design within the desired boundaries.
- Start Hanging Begin with the largest basket, as it often serves as the focal point. Hold it up to the wall at the desired spot and mark where the nail or hook will go. Hammer in the nail or attach the hook, then hang the basket.
- Continue Arranging Once the first basket is in place, refer to your photo and start adding the other baskets. Work from the center outward, alternating sizes and shapes to maintain balance. If you prefer not to use nails, you can use Command strips, especially for lighter baskets. Follow the same process: hold the basket up, mark the spot, attach the strip, and hang.
- Adjust as Needed Step back frequently to view your progress and make adjustments. Sometimes, what looks good on the floor might need tweaking once it’s on the wall. Don’t be afraid to move things around until you’re happy with the arrangement.
- Final Touches Once all baskets are hung, step back and admire your work. Check for any baskets that might need to be leveled or repositioned. Make any final adjustments to ensure the display looks just right.
Tips for Success:
- Mix Textures and Patterns: Combining different textures, colors, and patterns adds visual interest and depth to your basket wall.
- Use Lightweight Baskets: Lightweight baskets are easier to hang and less likely to cause damage to your walls.
- Be Patient: Creating the perfect basket wall takes time. Don’t rush the process—enjoy experimenting with different arrangements.
